The product that helped launch the mother of all lifestyle brands ups its game following a recent revamp.
The Look: As per Honest Company Diapers Review, they have never lacked style, and current designs have only upped the ante. There are dozens of prints, and they run the gamut from whimsical hot air balloons to downright edgy skulls and crossbones. While we appreciate other eco-conscious diaper brands’ choice to eschew inks and dyes entirely, we. just. can’t. with these swoonworthy prints.
Absorbency: Whereas the Honest folks are clear leaders in the cuteness category, they’re no pioneers when it comes to construction. Case in point: a now-standard wetness indicator strip was only added in 2021. We read about the diapers’ “quilted bubble liner” and “quick absorb channel,” meant to quickly draw away wetness and keep leaks at bay, respectively. While the former does its job (we didn’t notice any diaper-inflicted irritation), our tester did experience some leakage following a typical morning of wear.
Comfort: The recently updated model, launched in 2021, is less bulky in appearance and uses less overall material than its predecessor—a win for both Mother Earth and Baby in Diaper. Comfort remains an issue, however, and this diaper can’t touch others (Dyper and Coterie, for example) when it comes to softness.
Notable Materials: Packaging dubs these “clean conscious diapers” (not to be confused with “clean conscience”), and they’re created without latex, fragrances, or parabens. Honest harvests wood from sustainably managed Scandinavian trees, then uses a chlorine-free process to create the liner’s absorbent fluff pulp. And as mentioned above, a new-ish, more efficient design reduces the amount of material used in each diaper.
Cost: from $.37 each (Honest.com)
The Verdict: Don’t let your eyes fool you: These crazy cute diapers leave something to be desired when it comes to comfort and absorbency.
